Some Heart/Miracle Humor
I wanted to share some of the humor that pulled us all through this event…
Don’t get me wrong, I cried for two days straight during Ted’s first visit…
But there were some fairly funny moments…
The night in the ER, Ted is in shock and I am doing everything in my control to keep his feet warm and not fall to pieces myself.
Just minutes before they wheeled him off to the Cathe lab, he says in a weak voice
“Patricia, do you have a paper and pencil”?
(OMG) really… visions of last words, regrets or hidden treasure all popped into my brain..
I dig my sketch book out of my purse… I lean in… sniffing.. “Yes honey”?
Pause… deep thoughtful look on his face
then he speaks:
“This… (throat clears) This is… How you… pay… Payroll… “
Oh, for pity’s sake!!!!
“No,” he says… “It’s tougher than you’d think, write this down…”
Now I can tell you that at that moment I should have realized he was going to be fine…
But I sure as heck wanted to whack him! LOL…
Then…
They put me in a special waiting room… it’s dark… it’s 4:00 AM…
I am bawling… ALONE… reading the Bible… blowing my nose…
I am there for 30 minutes (the longest 30 min of my life)…
And I hear…
Clank?
Clatter?
Then, a ROAR… “HOLY SH_T!!”
That’s my husband… with that one “bellow” I THANKFULLY put down the Bible and the tissues…
Ted was ALIVE… and swearing! YES!! All things are normal LOL…
Turns out the nurse had lost control of the IV stand and the NITRO (glass bottle) whacked him right on the cheek bone.
He had a golf ball sized shiner and because of the blood thinners, it was an ugly mess.
When he saw himself in the mirror days later he bellowed the same statement! LOL
Later when we went back in for the second procedure, he brought in ski goggles for protection.
The same Nurse was on duty and has taken so much ribbing!
The joke here in town is that if he doesn’t straighten out, Patty’ll whack the other eye!
Enjoy each day!

I see now why you’ve had such a long and happy marriage. Even the “grim reaper” can’t do a thing to you guys with such a sense of humor. Thanks for the good example and sharing this all with us! We are after all ONE in spirit and what happens to one happens to all! Even laughing during lifes stresses like you and Ted have had. You keep sharing and we’ll be your backup “singers” in your prayers ok.?

Hi Patty!
I’m so glad to hear that your husband is OK. Sometimes you just have to whip those guys to get them to go back to the doc! I’m glad it all turned out good. Hope the new year is happy and healthy for both of you!
Diane
Hi Patty, So glad that Ted is Ok. My Hubby has prostate cancer so I know the trauma of hospital visits. Keep strong and know that you have huge amounts of support from us all. Much love to you both from Australia.
