5 Tangle Critters, Inspired By Lucy

5 Tangle Critters, Inspired By Lucy

One of my very best friends had a birthday a few months ago. She likes to deny it, but she has them from time to time. This particular friend is artsy, creative, free-spirited, and has a wide range of “critters” that she loves to incorporate into her artwork. So I put together a Zentangle® bucket for her, with one of the books, some micron pens, and a few other art supplies, and a card with step-by-steps of the five creatures she uses the most in Zentangle® style.

Making Rubber Stamps

Making Rubber Stamps

Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted to do this exact thing? Make my own rubber stamps? I mean seriously, I was a kid trying to stick layers of foam together that I’d cut out, carving shapes out of potatoes, anything that would apply ink to paper without having to spend all my hard earned chore money on an expensive wooden stamp (but they’re so PRETTY!!). I always thought “I wish there was something permanent, something that worked. . .”

Uh-Oh, Creative Arts Lifestyle found Pinterest!

Guess who’s pinning like crazy here at Creative Arts Lifestyle? Patty, Jess S, and newcomer Jess M! (We’ll figure out some way to easily differentiate between the Jess’s at some point soon!) We think we’ve finally found a Social Media form that really really fits us (in addition to Facebook, of course), and Patty is super excited! (who am I kidding, we’ve all spent the afternoon flipping through awesome pins!) We hope you’ll all check us out and see what inspires us! You can see our latest Pins in the sidebar, and we’ll eventually have a “Pin This” type button in a prominent place on our blog posts so you can share the stuff we’ll be blogging about in the next few weeks! Thanks for following us, everybody! Happy creating =)

How to Transfer a Laser Print with your Iron

How to Transfer a Laser Print with your Iron

I was going to title this “How to Transfer a Laser Print with Your Home Iron and Drive Your Husband Crazy Enough To Want To Buy You An ‘Art Iron,’” but I decided to shorten it a bit =) Basically I got to have an adventure over the long weekend last week with some paint, a spare Anyway Tray board, our “good” iron (as Dear Husband dubbed it afterwards) and an 11×17 copy of one of our new Chef phrases (this was one of mine, and I knew what I wanted to do with it as soon as I designed it!). It was my first attempt at doing a transfer like this, so there was some “live and learn” action going on, but I took pictures as I went so I could share the experience with you. The result was a lot of fun, slightly grungy, and made Patty squeal when I brought it in to show her, so this blog post was officially a go! Read on for the details =)

Quick Jess Desk Test

Quick Jess Desk Test

So we have a new way of printing paper here at Creative Arts Lifestyle, and we’re all super excited about the possibilities this brings. We were testing out new versions of our background papers left and right for probably longer than we should have been yesterday, but we just couldn’t help it. It was so much fun to see how the colors came out!

Hello Internet Land!

Hello Internet Land!

Hello world, this is Jess speaking. In case you don’t know, I’m one of the design team members here at Creative Arts Lifestyle, and I’ve been working with Joe (do you know Joe? He’s Patty’s techy son) to get this lovely blog set up. If you’re here before the launch is all “official” and stuff, there will likely be some design tweaks here, some page changes there, to make this an awesome place to come learn about the behind the scenes work we do, and probably a little bit about our Artsy Lifestyle. So, yes, I really am excited to be here! Can’t wait to start creating with you =)
